Getting On The Same Page As Food Suppliers

When I started ordering the supplies for my parent's restaurant, I realized that it was a lot harder than I had initially anticipated. The work was long, tiresome, and incredibly challenging. I also didn't know how to properly project how much food we would burn through, which made it difficult to order. However, as I continued ordering, I learned the tricks of the trade, as well as how to get on the same page with food suppliers. Check out these posts to find out how you can streamline your restaurant ordering, save money, and alleviate order-related problems with great ease.

Three Simple Recipes To Make With Avocado Powder

Avocados are delicious, but they can take a while to ripen — and once they are ripe, they tend to spoil quickly. As such, you may want to keep dried avocado powder on-hand instead of just relying on fresh avocado. Using dried avocado can take a little getting used to, but with the simple recipes below, you will be off to a great start.

Classic Guacamole

Perhaps the most classic way to use avocado powder is to make your own guac! You will need:

  • 1/4 cup avocado powder
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice
  • 2 tablespoons red onion, minced
  • 1/4 cup tomato, chopped
  • 2 tablespoon fresh cilantro, minced
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 pinch of cayenne pepper

Use a fork to blend together the avocado powder, water, and lime juice. Let the mixture sit for about 10 minutes, which will allow the avocado powder to absorb the liquid. Then, add the onion, tomato, cilantro, salt, and cayenne pepper. Mix with a fork. Let sit for another half hour or so, which will allow the flavors to meld. Then, enjoy with chips or your other favorite dipper.

Green Herb Dressing

If you are looking for a unique salad dressing, you can make a lovely homemade option with avocado powder. You'll need:

  • 2 tablespoons avocado powder
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons orange juice
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon fresh oregano
  • 2 tablespoons fresh basil
  • A few sprigs of fresh rosemary
  • a pinch of salt

Combine all of these ingredients in a food processor. Press the pulse button a couple of times to get the ingredients to begin combining. Then, let the processor keep running until all of the herbs are blended up. Spoon the dressing over salad, and enjoy. Make sure you use this all up promptly; it doesn't store very well.

Extra Green Smoothie

Green smoothies are a nutritious way to start your day. Made with avocado powder, they're a little more filling, thanks to the fat in the avocado powder. For one smoothie, you will need:

  • 1 cup frozen baby spinach
  • 2 tablespoons avocado powder
  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1 handful of strawberries or blueberries
  • 1 1/2 cups orange juice
  • 1/2 cup yogurt

Combine all of the ingredients in a blender. Blend until smooth, and enjoy.

There are so many ways to use avocado powder! Start with the suggestions listed above, and build out your meal and food choices from there.
